Emma Carpenter

I have recently completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in Museums and Cultural Heritage, after having acheived my Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Art History.  I have a passion for art and history and am currently looking to get into a career in the industry.

While I am interested in a career in curatorship and art dealership, I am at this point looking to get a foot in the door with no job being too big or too small for me.

I have a strong educational background aswell as work experience in retail

Key skills:

Customer Service

  • I have over six years experience in retail sales, this has increased my ability to interact and deal with customers of all backgrounds
  • I am a friendly and polite person by nature which lends itself to serving customers and working well with other people
  • I am well presented, always dressing in a professional manner at work and maintaining high levels of personal presentation
  • Working in retail, as well as work at university, has allowed me to develop excellent communication skills

Organisation and Reliability

  • I am consistently punctual, always arriving well in time for work or any other commitment
  • University and school have honed my skills in time management, having all assignments, essays, and study done in a timely fashion, not allowing work to build up, is essential for me
  • I am also currently planning my wedding which has taken a great deal of planning, organisation and research

Written and Oral Skills

  • University work including completing essays (many of them!) and presenting seminars have extended my skills in writing, reporting research, and presenting information
  • Many hours of reading, researching, and studying academic texts have also built my skills in this area

Fast Learning

  • I am very interested in art and history and am very eager to learn all I possibly can about working in the industry
  • Again, university has perfected my skills in being able to learn quickly from texts and lectures, and to be able to follow instructions well
  • I am also good at taking my own initiative and working things out for myself without having to be told

For these reasons, I believe I would be an excellent candidate for many positions in the arts sector.
