R K Achary
I have been a print journalist (a deskperson) in India for 12 years. This career took off after a brief detour as a clerk in an accounting job and a publishing job, and a stint with a local magazine.
I'm 36 and most of my career until now has been spent with leading newspapers of my country such as Economic Times, Hindustan Times, Indian Express and The Telegraph, Kolkata (formerly Calcutta).
Two years were spent doing more of the same in the leading English-language tabloid of Bahrain, The Gulf Daily News. I am now employed with a leading daily in India.
Copy editing, copy tasting, rewriting, and a keen news sense
I am a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from Calcutta University. Later, I did a Post-Graduate Diploma in Print Journalism from an institute once affiliated with The Indian Express, Delhi. The institute is no longer functional but has since been taken over by another Indian newspaper group and shifted to Chennai (formerly Madras).
