Andrew Brereton
I have recently completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Creative & Performing Arts at The University of Auckland, specializing in Sound Recording and Design. My involvement with the University of Auckland provided me with experiences to record and interact with musicians from a wide range of musical styles, including pop, rock, hip-hop, classical & jazz. I currently run my own freelance music production business. I work intensively with the artists whom I produce to package and promote their product. Artists I have worked with include: The Psychs, Chess Countess, Mad Pattern, Andrew Keoghan, Clap Clap Riot, Anonymouz, Alphrisk, Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra and Ironic Trio.
I have a passion for music and a wealth of music knowledge, having been involved in the music industry for a decade. I have held positions as a music retail store manager, music producer & sound engineer and have studied musicology and sound recording at postgraduate level. My experience managing music retail stores provided me with an inside knowledge of the music industry and a hands-on experience interacting with record labels, customers and bands. I have the ability to prepare promotional material about an idea or product and am experienced in organizing advertising displays, musician in-store appearances and promotions at concerts. I have effective time management skills and am experienced in coordinating activity to meet tight deadlines. I am committed to delivering outstanding customer service.
I have highly developed written and oral skills, having completed a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in English Literature. I am proficient at writing reports and proposals as well as experienced in public speaking and presenting for radio.
