Elke Finkenauer
My work explores ideas of belonging, through an exploration of the in-between space. The middle-ground, where things both merge and are nothing, holds a fascination for me – the part of the journey between the beginning and the end; the spaces between thought and emotion; between experience and dreams; between imagination and reality; between difference and belonging. As a middle child of German and New Zealand descent who has lived in New Zealand and the UK, and worked in finance and art I feel a certain sense of belonging in this space.
