After an unceremonious exit five years ago, Jessie has returned to his hometown, where familiar faces and strange happenings haunt the air of this once-intimate place. Nan is six feet under. Pippie itches. Mutton sings to the fish. And Kōwhai can’t stomach anything.
This band of strays sets out to uncover what is happening to their town, but secrets and old grudges threaten their mission as scales begin to appear and time burns out.
Perhaps the missing children aren’t missing after all…
S.L.U.G (Society for Little Ugly Girls) Theatre Company is returning for their 4th time this year! And this time making their Tāmaki Makaurau debut with Mangrove Eaters, a nostalgic, darkly funny, magic realism story about the end of the world (with music).
