Corner window gallery is a non-commercial project space at the corner of Karangahape Road and Edinburgh Street in Auckland, with a programme of emergent practices by New Zealand and overseas artists, designers and architects. As a public-facing, street-level window space, the gallery is 'open' to the public free of charge 24/7. Corner is curated by Rob Garrett and hosted by Glamuzina Paterson Architects and Kelvin Soh.

The CORNER programme commenced in February 2012 and since that time we have presented work by 24 artists and two projects by curatorial interns. CORNER is a unique and highly visible window project space on Karangahape Road in central Auckland, suited to site-specific and experimental practices.

The role of "Curatorial Assistant and Installation Coordinator" is a voluntary position based in Auckland to assist Curator Rob Garrett (who is based in Poland) with the coordination of the CORNER installations which are changed over every 6 to 8 weeks.

NZ-based artists manage their own installations and de-installations in the space as well as ensuring that the gallery space is restored to its original condition before the next installation takes place. The "Curatorial Assistant and Installation Coordinator" is required to liaise with these artists and assist where needed.

Overseas artists' projects are typically posted to the "Curatorial Assistant and Installation Coordinator" who then manages the whole installation and de-installation of the overseas artists' projects. Upon de-installation the "Curatorial Assistant and Installation Coordinator" restores the gallery to its original condition and returns the artist project to the artist by mail or courier. Direct costs are covered by the artist.

CORNER is only 'open' for exhibition change-overs during normal office hours on weekdays, therefore the "Curatorial Assistant and Installation Coordinator" must be free to assist at these times.

CORNER is a 'free' space and all projects are self-funded and everyone's efforts are voluntary. It is also highly desirable that the "Curatorial Assistant and Installation Coordinator" has good-to-excellent photography capability so that overseas artists' projects can be well-documented for the artists and for the CORNER web page.

In addition, there is the opportunity for the "Curatorial Assistant and Installation Coordinator" to curate their own project in CORNER during the 12 months of their role.

We are looking for a highly motivated and resourceful person who wishes to help artists achieve their projects and gain valuable curating and technical experience.
