Open Call (CLOSED): International VideoArt
Job details
Closing date for submissions August 31, 2015 (8pm NZT)
Curator Rob Garrett has been invited to select the New Zealand artist and art work for the 2nd edition of "Entre Islas / Between Islands" by the Spanish organisers. The participating islands and countries for the 2nd edition of “Entre Islas / Between Islands” are Madeira (Portugal), Sicily (Italy), Bahrain, Galápagos (Ecuador), Canary Islands (Spain) and New Zealand. The Festival is especially interested in video art works by young artists.
"Entre Islas / Between Islands" aims to shed light on such issues as emigration, insularity or identity.
For the New Zealand selection, artists are invited by curator Rob Garrett to propose one or more video works that relate in some way to any of the issues the festival is focused on. The festival aims for a creative dialogue between the different situations of island communities, therefore the New Zealand art work that is selected will be one that engages in some way with matters of emigration, insularity or identity characteristic of New Zealand’s diverse situations.
Though artists may submit several video works for consideration, only one video work will be exhibited from the selected artist. Submitted video works must be less than 8 minutes duration each and recent work (do not send the video work – only send online links).
Only one artist and one video work will be selected. The curator reserves the right to select an artist and video work by any means and is not limited to the entries received through the open call.
No artist, curator or exhibiting fees or costs are offered by the Festival organisers.
The previous edition of the "Entre Islas / Between Islands" VideoArt Festival was exhibited in Spain, Portugal, Nicaragua and Ecuador in 2014; and will be shown in Haiti and Italy in 2015.
