Marketing and Communications Co-ordinator

The James Wallace Arts Trust (JWAT) is recruiting a Marketing and Communications Co-ordinator to deliver its marketing and communications needs.

This .7 equivalent position (28 hours / week) reports directly to the CEO and works within a small close- knit team.  The role will be primarily based at the TSB Bank Wallace Arts Centre, the Pah Homestead, in Hillsborough, Auckland:  the headquarters of the JWAT.  The Centre itself is a busy free entry public gallery with an annual programme of exhibitions, various educational and outreach activities, events, the Homestead Café, and the JWAT’s extensive collection of contemporary New Zealand Art. 

The Purpose of the Position

·         Raise public awareness of the JWAT and its various functions

·         Actively promote the JWAT’s direct and indirect activities, and the success stories and legacy of the JWAT artists, practitioners and organisations

·         Contribute to the development of the marketing, communications and digital strategy

·         Develop and deliver annual marketing and communications schedule and budgets

·         Drive publicity and media coverage and editorial to support endeavours

·         Brand management

Skills & Experience Required

  • Tertiary qualifications in marketing and communications
  • Tertiary level qualifications in the arts desirable
  • Tertiary level qualification in journalism desirable

 

Experience

·         Proven success and minimum three years in a comparable role in an arts or similar organisation with significant public interface

·         Proven success in digital media environments

·         Work experience in marketing environment

·         Professional approach

·         This position requires a highly motivated individual that can effectively simultaneously manage a number of responsibilities, prioritising activities to produce excellent results

·         Excellent media relations and a well-developed network of media contacts is desirable

·         Effective oral and written communication skills

·         Ability to work effectively with external and internal stakeholders

·         Ability to maintain the highest level of discretion and confidentiality with sensitive information

·         A strong empathy with the arts in general and contemporary visual arts is highly desirables
