Marisa won her first short story competition at the age of 12 with a tale about the Smurfs, and bought a typewriter with her winnings. Her obsession with banging out words has continued to the present day. She is a freelance journalist and creative writer focused on gardening, history and now, the arts. She lives in Masterton with her partner and fur family of five cats and a dog.
