Postcards Home is an exhibition of over 100 extraordinary photographs and accompanying postcards from filmmaker and photographer Geoff Steven made during his travels between 1966 and 1969 in Korea, Japan, the former USSR, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Spain, Italy, Morocco, and Algeria.
Steven explains: "I left New Zealand to travel and explore the wider world. I was not on a photographic mission but having earned a living in my late teens as a photographer, my camera travelled with me and as can be seen from this collection of photos, was taken out on occasion. It was used to grab an image of a place or situation that caught my fancy. I disguised its carry-bag and my extra lenses in an old WW2 military bag. A useful ruse considering some of the situations I eventually found myself in."
