Molly Morpeth Canaday Award 2026 Exhibition

Molly Morpeth Canaday Award 2026 Finalists Exhibition

Celebrating 40 years of the Molly Morpeth Canaday Award, the 2026 exhibition brings together an exciting selection of contemporary visual art from across Aotearoa New Zealand.

Featuring the work of this year’s 87 finalists (including this years award winners*), the exhibition showcases a diverse range of artistic approaches, ideas, materials and perspectives. From painting and drawing to three-dimensional work and beyond, it offers visitors the opportunity to experience the breadth of contemporary art practice and discover the ideas shaping artists’ work today.

Since its beginnings in 1986, the Molly Morpeth Canaday Award has provided a platform for artists to share their work with new audiences, connect with the wider arts community and contribute to Aotearoa’s evolving visual arts landscape. Reaching its 40th anniversary is an opportunity to celebrate this legacy while looking ahead to the artists and ideas that will shape its future.

Whether you’re a regular gallery visitor, an art collector, or simply curious about contemporary art, the exhibition offers something to discover, question and enjoy.

Come along, take your time, and experience the work of artists from around the country in this significant anniversary exhibition.

On view until 27 February 2027.
