HER gaze: open call for founding artists
HER gaze
Mō mātou | About us
HER gaze is a curated online gallery for lesbian, queer women and gender-diverse artists, founded by photographic artist Gabrielle Lewis in Ōtautahi Christchurch. Together, our work has strength in numbers: it is undiluted, impossible to miss, and seen on its own terms. HER gaze gathers it in one place, for our own community and for the allies who fund the visibility of the whole.
Mō tēnei arawātea | About this opportunity
HER gaze is inviting founding artists for its first exhibition, opening online on 20 January 2027.
Who: lesbian, queer women and gender-diverse fine artists living in Aotearoa New Zealand or Australia, at any stage of their career. Emerging or established, it is your work we want to see.
Mediums: paintings, works on paper, sculpture and ceramics, textiles and fibre art, limited-edition photography and prints, artist books, photobooks and limited-edition poetry.
What you get: four spaces in the gallery, yours for twelve months. When a work sells, the space is yours again: send a new work and it takes the empty place. A small, curated roster, so each artist is shown to collectors rather than lost in a crowd.
Costs: NZ$30 to apply. If selected, a NZ$150 listing fee for twelve months. 25% commission, only when you sell.
Limited supported places are available: if the entry fee stops you, ask us.
