Join us to celebrate 11 years of the Mt Eden Chamber Music Festival! Founded in 2016 by the Eden Arts Trust, each year we invite world-class musicians to perform in a thoughtfully curated series of concerts over a single weekend.
We launch this year's Festival on Thursday 2 July at 7pm with Schubert's beautiful cello quintet, performed by players from the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, including the Festival's Artistic Director Simeon Broom. This concert is dedicated to the late and much loved violin teacher Mary O'Brien.
Our Friday evening concert (also 7pm) features three musicians from the Auckland Philharmonia - Bede Hanley (oboe), Robert Ashworth (viola) and Sarah Watkins (piano) - playing music by Alyssa Morris, Charles Loeffler and Janet Jennings.
Concert 3 on Saturday 4 July at 5pm remembers pianist Katherine Austin whose colourful presence and inspirational playing were such an integral part of our Festival in its first 10 years. The programme has been specially selected by Katherine's family and includes works by Bach, Rachmaninov, Schumann, Dvorak and Prokofiev.
Our final gala concert on Sunday 5 July at 3pm brings back three NZSO favourites - Simeon Broom (violin), Julia Joyce (viola) and Andrew Joyce (cello) - in an uplifting programme of Ravel, Beethoven and Dohnanyi.
