Associate Project Manager, Public Programmes

Ō pūmanawa - What you will bring

Ideally, you will have end-to-end experience in coordinating and delivering projects with master spreadsheet skills, coupled with financial acumen and experience in budget management and reporting.

A qualification or training in project or event management is desirable. An understanding of and confidence in working within different cultural contexts, including excellent pronunciation of Te Reo Māori is hugely important.

A strong interest in art, culture, live performance, audience development and community engagement with work experience and/or qualification in project management, museum studies or a related creative sector will be advantageous.

The role will provide an opportunity for the successful candidate to use and further develop their skills and experience in the key areas of coordination, collaboration, project delivery, public programming and cultural understanding.

A full-time, permanent role, the Associate Project Manager plays a crucial role in the delivery of public programmes, ticketed events and community engagement of Tāmaki Paenga Hira both onsite and offsite. In this position, you will be responsible for maintaining important functionality, systems and processes to ensure that activities are completed on time and within budget, while meeting high standards and strategic objectives.

You will also be providing project coordination and administrative support across a busy team and dynamic annual calendar of public events, from the initial planning stages to final delivery across multiple programmes and timelines. Flexibility to work weekends, evenings and holidays is also a requirement of the role.

You will be a natural collaborator with a high degree of cultural understanding - a true team player, who is willing to contribute and support a diverse range of projects and kaupapa. Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this role, as it involves working on various kaupapa with people and communities from diverse backgrounds, including Museum kaimahi and external stakeholders from the creative and GLAM sectors in Tāmaki Makaurau.

You will be a critical thinker, have excellent attention to detail and quality and be able to balance multiple tasks and conflicting priorities to meet deadlines.
