Mō tēnei arawātea | About this opportunity
The Court Theatre is seeking expressions of interest from playwrights, directors, independent producers, and artists for a range of opportunities in 2027 and 2028.
Rainbow Theatre Festival 2027 Producer
The Court Theatre is seeking expressions of interest from experienced producers to lead the Rainbow Theatre Festival 2027 in Ōtautahi Christchurch. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape a vibrant, inclusive celebration of LGBTQIA+ stories, artists, communities and whānau.
We’d love to hear from producers with experience in live performance, festivals or community arts, strong organisational skills, and an understanding of Rainbow communities and culturally responsive practice. Expressions of interest close 5pm, Sunday 18th October 2026.
Short Term Development Residency – 2027
A two-week residency in the Wakefield Family Front Room supporting the development of artist-led new work in Aotearoa New Zealand. The residency provides space and structural support for independent artists working in live performing arts.
2028 Season – Ideas & Partnerships
We’re looking to collaborate with artists who have bold, original and compelling ideas for our 2028 season — from new plays in development and fresh takes on existing work to producing partnerships that expand what’s possible in Ōtautahi Christchurch theatre.
Yvette Bromley Rehearsal Room - Space to Hire
The Court Theatre is offering free use of our larger rehearsal space to independent and community artists and groups. The room has natural light, adjustable blinds, a mirror wall, Bluetooth speakers, and is accessible by stairs or lift. Selected dates in 2027.
If you’re unsure whether your idea or project fits an opportunity, we encourage you to get in touch.
