About our organisation
Wharepuke has been in the family since 1938. Art at Wharepuke was founded in 2005, the first component was the Wharepuke Print Studio. Owned and run by Mark Graver RE it is NZ's first specialist Acrylic Resist Etching workshop. A gallery was added in 2009 and a 1 km sculpture trail in 2015. This is all set within 2 hectares of the Wharepuke subtropical Garden of National Significance.
There are 5 tourist cottages - also used for residencies - and a on site restaurant, Maha.
Programme Overview
We are pleased to announce the Wharepuke Dalton Trust sponsored artist residency for 2026.
One artist will receive a fee of $4000 and 4 weeks accommodation (valued at $2400) at Wharepuke in Kerikeri in return for creating a work suitable for outdoor display on the 1km garden sculpture trail.
The residency is for 4 weeks between July 15th and September 30th - exact dates to be negotiated between the artist and Wharepuke.
