Mellow Mix - A relaxed night at Wellington Museum

Explore Te Waka Huia Wellington Museum after hours with a special late‑night opening. Wander through the museum in a calm and relaxed atmosphere, check out the exhibits, and enjoy activities on offer. 
 
Slip on a pair of headphones and create your own experience with our silent soundtracks, curated by DJ Marika. Choose your music. Choose your volume. Move at your own pace as you explore the museum after dark. 

Get creative with craft activities, join a guided tour of our temporary exhibition, unwind in our chill-out spaces and catch up with old friends or make new ones. 

This event is open to anyone wanting to explore the museum in a relaxed and friendly environment. It may feel particularly welcoming to sensory sensitive, neurodivergent and Takiwātanga Autistic visitors. To support visitor comfort, audiovisual displays will run at reduced volume. Sudden sound or visual changes will be clearly signposted.  

Whether you’re coming on your own or with friends, you’ll be made welcome by our friendly staff.   

Under 16-year-olds must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.  

Accessibility maps will be available on the night.
