The Arts House Trust is dedicated to showcasing and supporting contemporary art and artists from Aotearoa New Zealand. Established in 2023, the Trust is the kaitiaki of one of the country’s largest private collections of contemporary New Zealand art, comprising nearly 9,000 works.
Based at the historic Pah Homestead in Hillsborough, Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, the Trust presents a dynamic selection of exhibitions and public programmes, as well as concerts and events that reflect the breadth and vitality of the contemporary arts sector.

The Arts House Trust (AHT) is seeking a detail-oriented, organised, collaborative Assistant Collection & Exhibition Technician to assist and support our Curatorial Staff, Collection & Exhibition (Senior) Technician and Art Loans Manager. This role is a part-time, permanent position based on 20 hours per week with weekly flexibility based on project / installation needs.
The Assistant Collection & Exhibitions Technician's role requires a combination of physical and administrative work, technical skills, attention to detail, collaboration within our team, as well as ongoing professionalism with stakeholders / suppliers / galleries etc. The role contributes significantly to the overall success of our art exhibitions and loans programme by ensuring that artworks are presented and stored professionally, safely, and in accordance with the artistic and curatorial intentions of TAHT.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assist with the coordination of the storage and transport of the collection both onsite and offsite
- Provide maintenance of the collection through ongoing assessment and audits of artworks
- Prepare items for our loans programme, offsite and for exhibition
- Updating of the collection electronic database, ensuring familiarity of the collection.
This job would suit an applicant with a graduate in Art History, Fine Arts or similar with 1-3 years experience in an art / object handling and care based role within a museum or gallery environment. A clean and valid NZ drivers license a must with the ability to drive a manual van for onsite and off-site travel and installations. Familiarity with Microsoft Office programmes and experience with Vernon CMS (Museum & Gallery software) is beneficial, but not required. Carpentry experience ideal, but not required.
