Mō mātou | About us

Each year, Wellington City Council mounts a family-friendly New Year's Eve event on the waterfront (Whairepo Lagoon). This event includes live performances, video screens, food trucks, two new year’s countdowns, and fireworks.  In 2026, fireworks are expected to remain a part of the event, however this may be subject to change in future years.

Average attendance for this event is in the region of 8,000- 12,000, however in 2025 this event received an unprecedented audience of over 20,000 people.

Mō tēnei arawātea | About this opportunity

We are seeking to source a suitable, locally based, event production company to co-design, develop, source, manage delivery and support all required event elements, and enter into an agreement to deliver these over the next 3 years (budget permitting)

We require this event to be delivered by an event producing company in a “turnkey” model (i.e. delivery by a single supplier responsible for supplying, managing and delivering all required elements from start to finish) by a supplier with a proven track record in running large-scale, professional events where contracting suppliers, performers and paid (i.e not volunteer) resourcing is required.

Please note, we are not seeking expressions of interest from performers, or other suppliers who deliver services other than producing and delivering the entire event package. Expressions of interest for these services will be rejected and also not passed on to the successful bidder.
