About our organisation
PAYPA - Performing Arts & Young People Aotearoa - is the national support entity for artists and organisations engaged in performing arts for, by and with children and young people in Aotearoa New Zealand. We are a not-for-profit organisation, and operate as a leadership organisation and network, for practitioners working for and with tamariki and rangatahi, aged 0-25. PAYPA is New Zealand’s National Centre for ASSITEJ - the International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People.
Programme Overview
The creative residency is a 2.5-day professional development project aimed at artists who have previously led the creation of theatre, dance, or interdisciplinary works. The focus is on developing work for young audiences by providing time, space, and inspiration to develop ideas through peer-sharing, mentorship, and workshops. The Creative Residency takes place kanohi ki te kanohi (face to face) from Friday 21st – Sunday 23rd August in Ōtaki, near Wellington. PAYPA will provide a small stipend, meals, accommodation, workshops, artistic support, rehearsal and meeting space. Some travel assistance may be available for participants based outside Wellington. If you are available for the residency dates of 21st- 23rd August, please submit your expression of interest here. If you prefer to answer the patai or questions via a video upload, you can do that on the form.
