Design a sketchbook competition

At Inc Productions, we work with artists, designers, publishers, and cultural organisations to bring creative projects into print. From artist books and exhibition catalogues to magazines, journals, games and limited-edition publications, we help transform ideas into beautifully produced physical objects.

With over 30 years of experience in print production, we guide projects through every stage of development, from concept and planning to printing, finishing, and distribution. Drawing on a trusted network of specialist printers, binders, and finishers across Aotearoa and internationally, we match each project with the production methods and materials best suited to its creative vision.

Our approach is collaborative and hands-on. We work closely with creators to navigate the complexities of print, offering practical advice, technical expertise, and production support to ensure each project reaches its full potential.

Whether you're an emerging artist producing your first publication or an established organisation delivering a large-scale project, we're passionate about helping creative work find its best form in print. 

Inc. invites artists, designers, illustrators and creative practitioners to submit artwork for our Sketchbook Cover Competition.

This free-to-enter open call offers the opportunity to have your work considered by a panel of industry experts, with one winning entry receiving a $500 print voucher from Inc. The voucher can be used towards any of our print services, from publications and artist books to exhibition collateral and bespoke print projects.

Entrants are invited to create artwork for a sketchbook cover and submit a print-ready file. In addition to the competition, participants have the option to order printed copies of their own sketchbook featuring their submitted artwork as the cover. This optional service is available to all entrants and is independent of the judging process.

We welcome submissions from individuals aged 18 years and over. All work must be original and remain the copyright of the artist. Submitted works will be used only for the administration, judging and promotion of the competition and its outcomes.
