The Arts House Trust (AHT) is dedicated to showcasing and supporting contemporary art and artists from Aotearoa New Zealand. Established in 2023, the Trust is the kaitiaki of one of the country’s largest private collections of contemporary New Zealand art, comprising nearly 9,000 works.

 

Based at the historic Pah Homestead in Hillsborough, Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, the Trust presents a dynamic selection of exhibitions and public programmes, as well as concerts and events that reflect the breadth and vitality of the contemporary arts sector.

The Arts House Trust is seeking a friendly, professional and  dynamic Front of House Supervisor & Gallery Shop Assistant to join our team at Pah Homestead. As the first point of contact for visitors, you will play a key role in creating a welcoming and engaging experience while supporting the day-to-day operation of the gallery, shop, and venue.

 

Key Responsibilities

·      Welcome and assist visitors, providing information about exhibitions, the collection, programmes, and the historic Pah Homestead.

·      Deliver exceptional customer service in person, by phone, and via email.

·      Support gallery shop sales, cash handling, stock management, and daily reconciliations.

·      Assist with visitor data collection, administration, and reception duties.

·      Help maintain a safe and professional environment, including Health & Safety and Fire Warden responsibilities.

·      Support events, tours, and public programmes as required.

·      Share knowledge and enthusiasm for contemporary art, artists, and exhibitions with visitors.

 

About You

·      Tertiary qualification in Fine Arts, Art History, or a related field preferred

·      1–2 years' experience in a customer service, retail, gallery, museum, or cultural organisation environment.

·      Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

·      Confident working independently and managing multiple priorities.

·      Strong and organized administration and computer skills.

·      Genuine enthusiasm for contemporary art and engaging diverse audiences.

·      Professional, reliable, and detail-oriented.

 

This is a permanent part-time, job-share position offering the opportunity to work in one of Auckland's most distinctive art and culture venues, while contributing to the presentation and promotion of contemporary art in Aotearoa New Zealand.
