Open Call

Poached is a transient gallery space making an appearance behind Victoria Park Market in Tāmaki Makaurau.

We platform contemporary artists operating in conventional and unconventional mediums and modalities and who might not otherwise have the access to express themselves within the highly commercialised art market. Driven by the value of Kotahitanga, we have chosen to respond to a lack of opportunities by building them for ourselves and for our community. 

Poached seeks to demonstrate alternatives for the use of different types of space, Tāmaki is a city overrun by vacant office buildings, markers of decline and decay. We are operating an experiment in seeking to repurpose these spaces, in this case an ex office building, for community building and platforming local creatives who help us make sense of these odd times.

We are seeking submissions for exhibitions in the second half of 2026, we are open to just about anything you might think of. You are welcome to pitch full exhibitions or smaller bodies of work which will be curated into a wider thematic project. 

Propose exhibitions, workshops, performances. Old work, new work, complete or incomplete. 

Our deadline for proposals is for the 11th of June with exhibitions to be scheduled. If you do miss the deadlines please consider sending through your work anyways, we will be prioritising those who get in under the deadlines but sometimes things change and we need to fill gaps, and sometimes exceptional work is worth exceptions.
